This can me alarming, to see your old soft story building torn up. But it's necessary to dig up the foundation to set the new footings for the new steel frame to seat in, and tear into the buildings overhang to tie the steel frame, building and foundation together.
Once the structural foundation work is complete, all repairs are made to the facade of the building, and the new concrete foundation is poured. Then we do a little paint and touch up here and there, and you'll never know we were there.
